Nikki Rakov (b. 1972, Virginia), lives and creates in St. Augustine, Florida, the nation’s oldest city. Trained as an artist through her Fine Arts undergraduate work, Nikki earned her M.F.A. in Painting at the Savannah College of Art and Design. Nikki works in acrylic, oils, watercolor and drawing media that are layered into paintings to express her visions of a mysterious world. Her paintings reveal figures and animals interpreted from dreams, visions, and reference photographs woven together in ethereal and haunting landscapes. Inspired by research of folk magic, the occult and family history, her paintings invite the viewer to join her on a journey to transcend the ordinary. Her paintings may be seen at Butterfield Garage Gallery, St Augustine, Florida, where she is a resident artist. Nikki is an adjunct Professor at University of North Florida and spends her free time planning her next adventures and research trips to Europe.
